As well as commissions for portraits, I also undertake commissions for other work based upon my still lifes. I'm always interested in exploring new possibilities or producing new and different versions of previous paintings. On a number of occasions, I've been commissioned by interior designers who see my work as playing a part in an overall design and having some experience of interior design myself, I'm always keen to take up the challenge of relating image to colour and space. Below are a few recent examples.
This feature appeared in the Autumn 2012 edition of the Society of Women Artists Newsletter. I was pleased to be selected this year for my second year running, when I showed the two paintings above.
I was honored to be asked to paint Prof Whitty's portrait for the occasion of his retirement from his post as Director of the Institute of Education, University of London. The portrait was unveiled on 12th December by Lady Elizabeth Vallence, in front of Prof Whitty, his family and members of Council.
Having found inspiration in each other’s work, Loli CARDENOSO and Trinidad BALL have created a collection that reflects this cross pollination. The result is an exhibition in which 2D and 3D artwork bounce of each other.
I was delighted when my painting "Higos Chumbos in the Sun" (80x80cms, oil on canvas) was selected for the poster and other publicity advertising "Summer Sizzle", an exhibition organised by Skylark Galleries, the collective I am part of.
I am delighted that my work was recently included in The State of Art: Representational & Abstract No. 2, an art collection which brings together 50 artists from all over the world and re-examines how contemporary artists are working within what could perhaps be considered the two main strands of artistic practice - the Representational and the Abstract. This collection is published by Bare Hill Publishing.
